There are different reasons why you may want to disable Windows Search Index.

To access it press theWindows + I keys to access options.
Once in configs, clickPrivacy and Security,Searching Windows, followed by theClassic or Enhancedoptions.
All the folders not included in the Enhanced search will be listed in theExcluded folders from enhanced searchsection.
By default, youre going to find the Classic version enabled.
When it opens,selectandright-hit the drive you want to excludeand chooseProperties.
ClickOK, and aConfirm Attribute Changes windowwill appear.
Choose an option and clickOK.
Thats all there is to it.
This specific drive will not be included the next time you use Windows Search Index.
Click onSearching Windows > Advanced indexingoptions.

At the bottom, youll see what will be included in the indexing.
Itll appear at the bottom when you punch one at the top.
Once youre done, click OK, followed by the Done button.
Press theWindows +Rkeys and enterservices.msc.
When the new window opens, use the sidebar to go toWindows Search.
You candouble-choose the option, orright-clickand go toPropertiesto end up at the same place.
For the dropdown menu for theStartup throw in, choosedisabled.
And, underService status, itll say Running by default butclick the stop buttonto change that.
To pop launch the Command Prompt as an administrator, jot down command prompt in the search field.
When it comes up in the search results, choose the option toopen it as an administrator.
Youll need to power cycle your system.
But if you want to turn it back, bring up the Command Prompt and enter the following commands.
REG UPDATE HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSearch\Start=1
