Whatever they posted before you wont be able to see what they posted before you started following them.
But there is a way it’s possible for you to see their posting history.
But how do you find the person you want to follow in the first place?
You have different options to choose from.
For example, you’re free to use the recommendations section or search for them.
If someone sent you the link to their profile page, you could follow them that way too.
Once the user appears in the search results, hit their name.
Youll be added to their follower list depending on the users privacy prefs.
You might see their posts faster if they dont manually approve who follows them.
But if they do, it could take a little longer until they approve the request.
The search bar is a quick and easy way to follow someone on Mastodon.
Remember that to find someone; you dont need to know what server they are using.
When you see the results, youll see their name and the server they are on.
But to the right, youll see a person icon with a plus symbol on it.
This is what you gotta select to follow the person.
As soon as you start following someone refresh your page, and youll start seeing the posts.
But there is one more way you could follow someone if the previous methods dont convince you.
Mastodon also helps you find users you might be interested in following.
It looks at your current prefs and recommends users you might want to follow.
If youre still on Mastodons main page, nudge the Explore option; it should be under notifications.
press the For you tab, and youll see a long list of users.
The follow button will be at the bottom right.
Mastodon follow suggestions
There are different ways you could follow users on Mastodon.
If one method doesnt work for some reason, you have others to choose from.
But just because you follow someone today doesnt mean youll always want to follow them.
it’s possible for you to also start following other users by using hashtags.
tap on the Explore option on your left.
Using the hashtag, add what youre looking for.
For example, you might throw in #Geek and choose from the search results.
At the top right, youll see the follow icon you’re able to hit.
But this time, youll need to use your Android gear.
That is not the case if you do it on your unit.
Once the app is open, tap on the search icon, followed by Hashtags.
Youll see a series of recommended hashtags you might want to follow without typing a single word.
When they appear in the search results, punch their name.
That should take you to their profile page; you should be able to see the unfollow button.
select that, and youre good to go.
Where the follow button once was, thats where you should see the unfollow button.
