Naming files is a must if you want to be able to find them later.
If you dont name your files according to their content, you could waste a lot of time.
When it’s crucial that you change the name of one file, you right-click and name it.
But, can the same method is applied when you gotta batch rename files?
There is more than one way to batch rename files on your Windows computer.
when you land the File Explorer bring up the folder that has the files you want to rename.
If they were selected correctly, theyd be highlighted in blue.
Once the files are selected, right-press any of the files and press rename.
Without leavingFile Explorer, go to the folder that has the files you want to rename.
tap on theView tab, followed by theDetails option.
Now, select theHome tab, followed by theSelect Alloption near the upper right of the File Explorer.
it’s possible for you to also use theCtrl+A keyboard shortcutto select all the files.
Once youve chosen the files, right-click anywhere on the highlighted files and rename them.
Once youre done, punch the Enter key, and all the files will have the same name.
A final option would be to go for the Home tab, followed by the Rename option.
Once its open, youll need to throw in the path to the files you want to rename.
For example, you could pop in cd documents\files.
To begin the renaming process, pop in: Rename-Item Old-file-name.extension New-file-name.extension.
If the file you want to rename doesnt have any spaces, then the equation marks wont be necessary.
For example, the command you would need to enter would look like this: Rename-Item Dog_show_20_notes.txt Mountain_pics_2020_notes.txt.
ren OLD-FILENAME.EXTENSION NEW-FILENAME.EXTENSION is the command youll need to enter to rename a single file.
Keep in mind that quotation marks are only necessary if the files name has spaces.
To rename various files, youll need to enter the following command: ren *.FILE-EXTENSION ?
