When buying or selling a mobile phone, a term you may come across is unlocked.

Typically, mobile networks lock phones they sell bundled with contracts to their connection.

The intent is to make it difficult to switch networks at the end of your contract.

An unlocked phone isnt locked to any carrier and will work with any sim card.

For most customers, buying an unlocked phone is preferred to avoid this hassle.

In the options app, tap Mobile data > Mobile Data Options.

Your phone will then start searching for available networks.

After a while, the screen will update with a list of available networks.

If only one web connection is visible, then your phone is locked to that web connection.

Conversely, your phone is unlocked if it’s possible for you to choose between other networks.
