When configuring a Discord server, especially for the first time, the permission controls can be very confusing.

Working out what roles you should create and how you should manage them can take time.

When combined with role-based permissions, channel permissions can be a powerful tool.

tap the Edit Channel cogwheel icon for the channel you want to edit.

In channel permissions, it’s possible for you to either block, default, or allow any setting.

The grey default option simply uses the permission value set in the role permissions.
