You should try disabling the RCS feature for those particular contacts.
To do so, run with this:
Step 1: Open theMessagesapp and head to the relevant conversation.
Select thethree-dot iconlocated at the upper-right portion of the screen and tap onDetails.
Step 2:Enable theOnly send as text (SMS/MMS)toggle.
For that, adhere to these instructions:
Step 1:Open theGoogle Messagesapp.
Tap theprofile pictureicon at the top and go toMessages prefs.
Step 2: Tap onRCS chatsand turn off the toggle next toTurn on RCS chats.
Tip: On Samsung Galaxy phones, tap on the three-dot icon in the Messages app and select options.
Tap on Chat options and turn off Chat features.

Otherwise, the messages will not be delivered.
In case the person no longer has access to iMessage, they canderegister iMessagefrom the Apple website as well.
Step 2:Tap onStorage, followed by theClear cachebutton.
Step 3: Restart the phone.
